Kahu, Senior Pastor
Kahu Kenneth Makuakāne was born and raised in Hilo, Hawaiʻi - sort of! Attending Haili Church in Hilo, ʻOpihikao Church in Puna, and Kauahāʻao Church in Kaʻū, he a multi-church goer in his young life. After graduating from Kamehameha Schools Kapālama campus, he went home to attend the University of Hawaiʻi at Hilo.
After college life, Kahu moved to Maui to play music. It was at this time that he found God once again at a little church called Kumulani Chapel. As his music career blossomed, he moved to Honolulu. For the next twenty-five years he dedicated his life to his music and his new church in Kāneʻohe. He played on worship teams and produced album projects for various denominations and churches.
In 2010, Kahu Makuakāne answered the call to authorized ministry and began working at the Hawaiʻi Conference of the United Church of Christ, first as an Associate for Church Vitality, and ending his tenure as an Associate Conference Minister and the Papa Makua (the head minister) for the Association of Hawaiian Evangelical Churches.
On May 5, 2018, Kahu Kenneth Makuakāne was ordained and installed by Kawaiahaʻo Church as their twelfth pastor.
